Vlad Alecsandru Colar

Vlad Alecsandru Colar was born in Arad (Romania) and he graduated both the Faculty of Music in Timisoara (Romania) and the “Giuseppe Verdi” Conservatorio Statale in Torino (Italy) under the guidance of Prof. Enrico Cannata. He has won various prizes in flute competitions (3rd Prize at the International Flute Competition in Timisoara in 2003) and received several scholarship in international youth orchestras such as Pergine Spettacolo Aperto Trento and Orchestra J-Futura International (Italy). Later on he perfected his flute and piccolo playing skills with flutists Rolf Bissinger (Frankfurt Opera Orchestra) and Michael Hasel (Berliner Philharmonie). Besides his orchestral playing Vlad Colar is also active in classical and contemporary music performances both as a soloist and chamber music and has premiered and recorded works for flute and piccolo of composers Gabriel Mălăncioiu, Horia Surianu among others. He is also a passionate baroque traverso player performing occasionally in different early music projects.

Vlad Colar is co-soloflute and piccoloist with the Banatul Philharmonic Orchestra in Timișoara since 2007, flutist with Europasymphony Orchestra (Austria) and flute teacher at the Faculty of Music in Timisoara since 2014.
